How does a domain transfer work?
Four steps. Most transfers complete within a few days.
Unlock the domain
At your current provider, turn off the transfer lock (clientTransferProhibited) and disable WHOIS privacy if it hides your e-mail.
Get the EPP code
Your provider gives you an EPP / auth code. It is usually e-mailed to the registrant address.

Approve and done
Confirm the approval e-mail from the registry. Your nameservers are preserved, so nothing goes offline.

Will my website or e-mail go down during the transfer?
No. Your nameservers are carried over unchanged, so your website and e-mail keep working during and after the transfer.
How long does a domain transfer take?
Usually 1–5 days. Most of that time is the registry waiting for your approval; approving the confirmation e-mail quickly speeds it up considerably.
Do I lose the time left on my current registration?
No. The transfer fee adds one full year on top of your remaining time, so nothing is lost.
Why can a transfer be rejected?
The most common reasons are: the domain is younger than 60 days, it was transferred within the last 60 days, the transfer lock is still on, or the EPP code is wrong or expired.
Where do I find the EPP code?
From your current provider panel, usually under the domain details as EPP, auth code or transfer key. Many providers e-mail it to the registrant address instead of showing it.
Can I transfer a .com.tr domain?
Turkish .tr extensions follow a separate procedure run by the registry and are not part of this automated flow. Contact us and we will guide you.
